April 2003 Began playing bass, my dad’s 1966 Epiphone.
June 2003 Attended Bass Workout, Performed with Tom Arey and Everett Pendleton playing my new Ibanez 4 string bass
August 2003 Second Bass Workout
Met the outstanding drummer Dom Moio
November 2003 Third Bass Workout
Joined local rock band, D’Railed.
December 2003 Played my first gigs with D’Railed at the Bomb Shelter.
Got my first Victor Wooten videos.
January 2004 Played the Bomb Shelter with D’Railed.
March 2004 Fourth Bass Workout and my first time in a professional recording studio. Recorded a duet with Matt Ellenberger
May 2004 Bought a new Yamaha TRB 4 string bass.
June 2004 Fifth Bass Workout, Rehearsed and performed with Dom Moio
I also did my first small bit of teaching tap techniques at this time.
Began playing 5 string bass on my dad’s Brian Moore with high C.
July 2004 Attended Berklee College of Music Summer Performance Program. Met and played with many awesome musicians from all over the world. I performed at the Berklee Performance Center with the World Music Ensemble. Auditioned and qualified for scholarship. Studied with Joe Santere.
August 2004 Sixth Bass Workout
Recorded two songs, Slippery Moon and Se Je, with Jim Stinnett and Rob Gourlay for their CD Two Low.
November 2004 Seventh Bass Workout, Performed my own tapping composition with the faculty. Began playing 6 string bass, Pedulla Thunderbolt.
January 2005 Eighth Bass Workout, I did a lot of preparation for this session. I helped my dad create many of the play-alongs used for this Slap-Tap Workout. I taught the first couple of phrases of Can’t Hold No Groove and Classical Thump at this Workout. Performed my own composition, Slippery Moon, with five bassists.
Recorded video instruction of tapping technique using Ebenella and Jubilee as the models.
March 2005 Ninth Bass Workout, What a treat to record my on composition Raindrops, in a first-class studio, with great musicians!
June 2005 Tenth Bass Workout
First trip to Fodera and picked out wood for my seven-string Emperor 2.
July 2005 Attended Berklee College of Music Summer Performance Program. Studied with John Lockwood. Performed at the Berklee Performance Center. Auditioned and qualified for scholarship.
Made audition CD for the Bass Extremes Solo Bass Competition: Raindrops and Little Sunflower
Trip to Mike Gordon’s house and jammed with Mike.
August 2005 Eleventh Bass Workout, At this session my dad asked me to teach some tapping techniques using a couple of my compositions, as well as standard repertoire, as models.
Played my first gig with the Mo Bretton Big Band.
Extensive study / transcription of the music of Tower of Power.
September 2005 Began teaching guitar at Lembo’s Music.
October 2005 Twelfth Bass Workout, Transcribed and performed Spiffy Diffy by Grant Green. Met incredible musicians, Dino Govoni and John Spencer at the Workout.
Performed with Rob Gourlay and Jim Stinnett at Holyoke Community College.
Attended concert featuring Mike Gordon and Leo Kottke. Wow, very inspirational.
November 2005 New Rob Allen fretted High C bass. Unbelievable instrument!
